Facing persecution

This week I want to start off with a passage of scripture “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. John 15:18‭-‬21 ESV This is the word from Jesus to His disciples but not only His 12 disciples but all Christians. He said the world hates me they’re going to hate you. So, when you face persecution don’t be surprised because that means you’re not of this world. You do not share in the activities of this world but you are set apart from the things of this world. We face less persecution in North America, but in other areas of the world they face a lot more persecution because of their faith in the one true God. It seems most persecution in North America is not physical but usually mental persecution. They may not even realize they are persecuting you. We must not fall because we can’t take anymore. When we get mad we must not sin because the Bible says “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,” Ephesians 4:26 We must remember that all but one of the disciples were martyred for their faith. John the disciple who was not killed for his faith was severely persecuted by the people of this time. So this week let’s remember that when we face persecution let’s not lose our temper and our testimony. And when we face persecution let’s not forget to remember that our Savior faced way worse persecution than us.
