This week is going to be a little different, I want to remind you that the pilgrims had the first thanksgiving as a thanks to God for bringing them to America and giving them such a successful harvest. I think this has similarities to the Passover in several ways, first where God told them to remember Egypt where He spared them and brought them to the promised land, then in the way they celebrate every year with remembering what God did for them. The pilgrims were a God fearing group that thanked God through prayers and feasting that first thanksgiving. They knew they could have died on the way to America, been killed by Indians or sickness, as so many had, but God brought them through. I want you to hear this verse and dwell over it through the holidays, “Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 106:1 Remember that God loves you and there are so many things we can be thankful for this holiday season. Some of y’all may be having a hard year this year, just remember that God is still God in the valley and He is still God on the mountain and either place you find yourself this year just remember to thank Him for what you do have this year. This week is one of the times during the year we thank Him for what He does in our lives. I also want to encourage you to make sure that you are one of His children and that you know Him as your Lord and Savior, this is the best thing you could do during the holiday season, is to trust in Jesus. So this week let’s thank Jesus for all He has done for us and celebrate with our families whether that is just over zoom or in person.
