Prayer is an essential part of a christian life. But a lot of christians have questions on what prayer is or how to pray. I’ll start with the questions of what prayer is you are just talking to God and it is not just you asking God for all your requests. It is also you thanking God for what he has done for you and praising him for answered prayers. Prayers are also for asking God about questions in your life . If your just getting back into the routine of praying your mind will wonder. I’ve heard it called prayer a.d.d once you get back into the routine your mind will not wonder as much. Now let’s talk about the other question that christians have about How do we pray Jesus said in Matthew 6:4-15 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:5-15 ESV. When it says to pray in secret it does mean you should have your quite time with God but it doesn’t mean you should not pray around others it just means when you do pray don’t try to elevate yourself in your prayers or put others down. Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV pray without ceasing. Paul knew how crucial it is in a christians life to pray. Lets all take some time out of our week to pray. Lets pray for our country, our leaders, and for others to come to know Him.
