Dry or Spirit

This week I want to start off with some verses from God’s words, “The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.” So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the Lord.”” ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭37:1-14‬

In these verses, God tells Ezekiel to prophesy over dry bones. I really like Ezekiel’s answer when God asked him if the dry bones could live again and he said, you know, I think that is a really good answer. See when God and Ezekiel were talking, this was before there were mass resurrections when Jesus rose from the dead (Matthew 27:52) and possibly before the resurrections performed through Elijah were well known. So, we do not know if he thought it was possible or whether he was unsure, either way, he was able to witness the first mass resurrection from the dead and not only witness it but, be the one who God performed it through.

At the end of the passage God tells us the meaning of these miracles, he says that it was to signify how Israel thought they were hopeless and lost, but He tells them He will open up their graves and call them out and show them He is Lord. But, I think it may have another meaning for us in our lives, for some of us we may be dead in our sins with no hope for eternal life, those are the dry bones, then there are those of us who are saved, but have lost their zealousness for Christ and those are the ones with flesh, but no breath. The ones with flesh and spirit are the Christians that are on fire for God,  zealously living their lives for God. Which one are you? Do you know Jesus, are you zealously living out your lives for Him? The question you need to ask yourself is which you are? Because, if you do not know Him you need to take care of that today because, we are not promised tomorrow and it is too big of a decision to wait. If you are not zealously serving God, what will you say when you come face to face with God? There is no excuse that you can give, you will have to account for every idle word. I am not just talking about yall, I am also talking to myself too. If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, all you have to do is to admit that you are a sinner, believe that He died on the cross for your sins, and confess Him as Lord of your life

So this week no matter who you are, you need to seek God and ask which of these three you are, whether you are dry bones, flesh without spirit, or flesh with Spirit. Pray to find out whether you do not know Christ, do know him, but have lost your zealousness for him, or are you zealously living for Him. Also, some may need to pray and ask God to bring back your love for Him like when you were first saved.
